Adebayor in race to be fit

Emmanuel Adebayor has been put on an intensive fitness regime at White Hart Lane to try and get him up to speed.

Despite his considerable fee and wages the Togolese striker has only made two appearances for Spurs since joining on a full time basis in the summer because the coaching staff do not believe he is fit enough to start. The striker's fitness levels have slipped after he was frozen out of first team affairs at Manchester City City but Adebayor has been put on a specially-devised fitness programme as Andre Villas-Boas looks to bring his centre-forward up to scratch.
