Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen could be on his way to Spurs in the summer after his agent claimed they had made an approach.

The Belgium international has been targeted by a number of club's, which include arch rivals Arsenal, but Spurs have made an approach according to his agent Mustapha Nakhli. He said: "There is enormous interest. A number of clubs have made concrete approaches, with Tottenham among them. "Jan has a few dream clubs. Playing at the top of the Premier League is something he has worked really hard for." Ajax boss Frank De Boer has tipped the defender to go far now he has cleaned up his act both on and off the field and he now believes that the time might be right for him to move to England. He told ESPN: "Jan has seen the light. "Not only on the pitch, but away from it. I have been very critical of him and, at some point, he must have become fond of me. "His development is wonderful to see. If he leaves, I think it is right. Earlier, I thought it would have been unwise. It will not be easy to replace him."
