Norwich have completed the signing of defender Sebastien Bassong from Tottenham for an undisclosed fee.

The Canaries were beaten 5-0 on the opening day of the Barclays Premier League campaign and the French-born Cameroon international, who has signed a three-year deal, will add some much-needed cover for new boss Chris Hughton, who worked with the 26-year-old at Newcastle. Norwich confirmed the transfer on their official website just after noon. Hughton feels Bassong will bring some depth to the Norwich defence as they look to build following the departure of manager Paul Lambert to Aston Villa in the summer. "Sebastien is a player that I have known well since my time at Newcastle and I'm delighted to have brought in someone with the Premier League experience he has got," Hughton told the club's official website. "He will give us power and pace at the back and again add to the competition in the squad."
