Campbell rules out long-term deal

Tottenham Hotspur, 13:53, September 7, 2008

Loan striker Fraizer Campbell is detemined to use his spell at Tottenham to show he is worthy of a place in the Manchester United side.

The 20-year-old England Under-21 hitman was loaned out to Spurs until the end of the season as part of the deal which took Dimitar Berbatov to United on transfer deadline day last Monday.

United chief Sir Alex Ferguson has already insisted that Campbell remains in his plans at Old Trafford and the player has now stressed his desire to eventually win a first-team place at the club.

He told BBC London 94.9 said: "I've had various meetings with him and I'm in his plans for the future.

"Hopefully I can get some experience, come back and get a place in his team."

In the meantime Campbell is aiming to follow on from his successful stint at Hull City last season as he looks to secure some first-team action at White Hart Lane ahead of Roman Pavlyuchenko and Darren Bent.

"It's an exciting time for me, it's a great loan move that I've managed to get on," he added.

"Hopefully I can get in the team and hold down a regular first-team place and score a few goals, but most importantly learn from the experience.

"I enjoyed my time at Hull, and I'm thankful to all the people there, but this is a new season and I have to concentrate on my new loan club."
