Carroll on Spurs radar

Tottenham are reportedly ready to enter the race to sign Liverpool striker Andy Carroll as they look to strengthen.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has made a striker his top priority between now and the closing of the transfer window as he only currently has Jermain Defoe as an out an out striker on his books.
Carroll has no future at Anfield but is hanging back for a knock down deal to take him back to Newcastle but Liverpool have told him they will not be rushed into a deadline deal with the Magpies who do not want to stump up the £20m asking price.
Spurs are now thought to be in the race for the player, who has already turned his nose up at moves to West Ham, Aston Villa and Fulham, and will find him a cheaper alternative than previous target Emmanuel Adebayor at Manchester City.
