England's injury problems have intensified after Spurs striker Peter Crouch was forced to withdraw from the Euro 2012 qualifiers squad.
The 29-year-old had initially been a doubt for the Three Lions' two qualifiers against Bulgaria on Friday evening and the trip to Switzerland next week after picking up a rib injury against Wigan on Saturday. But, having linked up with the squad anyway, Crouch was then forced to miss training on Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
The Tottenham forward was assessed by the Three Lions medical staff and, with no sign of the injury improving, they decided to release him in order to recover.
Crouch becomes the fifth player to join England's growing injury list following the loss of Frank Lampard, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand and Bobby Zamora ahead of coach Fabio Capello naming his squad on Sunday night.
