England claims denied
Harry Redknapp has dismissed reports that the possible England job is proving a distraction for him at White Hart Lane.
Redknapp is the clear favourite to take over, eventually, from the axed Fabio Capello but he has denied that he is being distracted from the job in hand by the speculation. Spurs have gone from pushing for the title to looking over their shoulders to fourth place Arsenal in recent weeks after defeat to both their arch rivals and then to Manchester United at home on Sunday. Redknapp has denied the speculation linking him with the England job is affecting either him or his team. "No not at all, it's had no affect," he said following the defeat to Manchester United. "You couldn't come away and say the players haven't been trying, they've worked hard. "It's one of the two best teams in the country," he continued, after seeing his Spurs side slide to their second defeat in as many games. "I really felt they (United) were there to be beaten. I've not seen Alex (Ferguson) on his feet so much in years, it wasn't going their way. "But that's how it goes sometimes in football, you don't always get what you deserve." Redknapp takes his men to Everton on Saturday evening knowing they need to get back to winning ways asap.
