La Liga switch falls through
Tottenham Hotspur, 08:27, June 9, 2009 ,
Seville have confirmed their interest in Tottenham midfielder Didier Zokora but say they cannot afford a deal for him.
Zokora has slipped out of favour at White Hart Lane following the arrival of Wilson Palacios from Wigan and Seville would like to to take him to La Liga, while a number of rival Premiership clubs have also been linked.
Tottenham are willing let him go but they are asking for a fee in the region of £8million and Seville sporting director Monchi admits that is too much for the Andalucian outfit.
"Zokora is a great player," Monchi revealed. "I have followed him since we first saw him and could not pay for him. We know that we have to be realistic in this current economic climate.
"We cannot comment on everything that is published in newspapers, but we have the profile of the midfielders that we want."
