Modric deal hits snag

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez claims they will not pay more than £27m for Luka Modric but Spurs want £35m for his services.

Modric has apparently confirmed he wants to leave White Hart Lane and join the Spanish champions but there is a stumbling block looming on the horizon over the price. Spurs have made it clear they will sell but only if they land their asking price of £35m but Real president Perez claims they will pay 35m but in Euros, which comes out at £27.3m. Perez said: "The limit for the Modric deal is 35m euros. We will not pay any more than that for him." Chairman Daniel Levy has played hardball before over Modric so there could be a stalemate.
