Modric deal moves closer

Chelsea appear to be winning the race to land Spurs ace Luka Modric and are said to be preparing a £36m offer.

Real Madrid are also very keen but are reluctant to go above £20m for the Croatian which will not be enough to persuade Spurs to sell, so any hopes he had of a move to Spain look to be over.
Chelsea supremo Roman Abramovich has vowed to dig deep to land the player they were pushing for last summer and, with Harry Redknapp gone and no Champions League place for Modric, he looks likely to be more successful this summer.
