Race on for Real legend

Tottenham Hotspur, 08:05, July 21, 2010 ,

Tottenham and Newcastle are ready to battle for Raul once Real Madrid allow the striker to leave on a free transfer.

The Spanish legend still has a year to run on his current deal but Real are ready to honour his service to the club by allowing him to leave for free and a host of clubs are keen to land him.
Reports claim that Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is leading the race to sign the striker, but Newcastle and possibly even Blackburn are also in the hunt.
Spurs can offer him Champions League football and are favourites to do a deal and agent Barry O'Connor says it is his job to find Raul a club in England as soon as Real give him the nod.
"With a player of this pedigree there is always a lot of interest but nothing will happen until Real Madrid give the official go-ahead that he can leave," he revealed.
