Real ready to test Spurs' resolve

Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas has emerged as a shock £15million January target for Spanish champions Real Madrid.

Real trail bitter rivals and leaders Barcelona by 12 points and have already snapped up fellow midfielder Lassana Diarra from Portsmouth and Klaas Jan Huntelaar from Ajax to revive their Primera Liga season.

England midfielder Jenas is well known by new Real coach, Juande Ramos, from his days as Tottenham manager and the pair enjoyed a mutual admiration for each other.

Speaking earlier this month, Jenas revealed: "When Juande was here he was having a lot of bad luck. I can't say enough about him, how good he is.

"I spoke to him after he left about how disappointed I was to see him go, but at the same time you have to move on."
