Redknapp backs off Bullard

Tottenham Hotspur, 10:40, December 24, 2008

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has insisted he has not made contact with Fulham about a January move for Jimmy Bullard.

Craven Cottage boss Roy Hodgson suggested last weekend that Bullard could quit the west London club because Fulham cannot meet his contract demands and Redknapp, who signed the midfielder from Gravesend & Northfleet when he was manager of West Ham, has been credited with an interest.

"I like Jimmy, I signed him from Gravesend & Northfleet when I was at West Ham for £20,000," Redknapp told The Daily Star. "I do know him and he has done fantastically well.

"He's a great lad. He's turned out to be a top player but I've not made enquiry about Jimmy."

He added: "He's still contracted to his club."
