Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has admitted Harry Redknapp will not be given much money to spend in the transfer window.
Speaking after the club's AGM, in which Redknapp made it clear new blood was needed if Spurs are to challenge the top four, Levy maintained money will be tight in the new year and he doubts there will be much comings and goings at White Hart Lane.
"We will do whatever we can, but it is just that it is very difficult to buy high quality players during the January transfer window," Levy said.
"I do not envisage any major transactions in or out of the club next month. When the financial world is falling apart around us, we have to exercise caution, although we will keep an open mind, should the right opportunities arise.
Levy again backed Redknapp, who has overseen a fantastic transformation in the club's fortunes since he took over in October, as he added: "Harry has abilities on a number of fronts, and I very much hope that he will be with us for many years to come."
Meanwhile, Spurs have unveiled stunning images of their proposed 60,000-seat new stadium which Levy insists will be ready for the club to move into in 2012.
"The brief I gave the architects was to design an iconic stadium that would be one of the best in Europe," Levy added.
"My overriding priority is to re-create the terrific atmosphere we have at the current stadium, within a world-class stadium that offers state-of-the-art facilities.
"This means designing a stadium which has supporters as close as possible to the field of play and not simply looking to chase headline capacity.
"Our fans will find themselves closer to the pitch than at any other comparable stadium in the UK. This design puts fan experience first."
