Redknapp concedes ground in Bellamy race

Tottenham Hotspur, 15:58, December 27, 2008

Harry Redknapp has admitted that Tottenham are unlikely to land West Ham striker Craig Bellamy if Man City enter the bidding war.

Spurs have already had a £6million bid turned down for the Welsh international but were expected to make a second bid as they look to freshen up their frontline.

However, Redknapp has conceded that if the richest club in the world, Manchester City, were to enter the race for the 29-year-old forward then Tottenham would be unlikely to be able to keep up in the bidding.

"I think there will be more offers, Manchester City are supposed to be very interested but he belongs to West Ham and if they decide they do not want to sell him then it's up to them," Redknapp said after Boxing Day's goalless draw with Fulham.

"It depends. I'll speak to the chairman but if Man City are in for him then it is very difficult to compete with them - they can throw millions and millions at everything."
