Redknapp targets Italian ace
Tottenham Hotspur, 09:14, August 7, 2009 ,
Harry Redknapp is ready to hijack West Ham's bid for Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni after missing out on Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
Italy international Toni is friends with Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola and is keen to link up with his fellow Italian at Upton Park according to his agent.
However, reports today suggest Spurs could be set to make a last minute bid after missing out on long term target Huntelaar, who is to join AC Milan, as they are keen to add another striker to their squad after selling Darren Bent to Sunderland.
Toni's reported wages of around £90,000 a week are said to be hindering his chances of a move to West Ham, which could allow Redknapp the opportunity to beat Zola to the 32-year-old's signature.
Toni has fallen out of favour at Bayern and is keen to play first team football in order to secure a place in next years Italian World Cup squad.
