Spurs after Blackburn forward

Tottenham Hotspur, 12:34, June 7, 2009

Harry Redknapp has set his sights on Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz and is willing to offer £10million for him.

The Paraguayan international looks set to leave Ewood Park this summer after admitting he would like to play for a bigger club but as yet has failed to agree a deal with any other Premier League side.

Manchester City had been leading the race for the 27-year-old but City boss Mark Hughes has reportedly become tired with trying to prise Santa Cruz away from Ewood Park and has turned his attentions elsewhere.

This has left the door open for another club to slip in and Redknapp is now keen on adding Santa Cruz to his ranks as he looks to transform Tottenham into a top-six side.

However, Redknapp admits that he will have to sell some of his deadwood before he can bring anyone in and may tempt Blackburn with a cash plus player offer for Santa Cruz.

"If I can get the players I want we'll have a terrific team. I reckon it will take £30m to get them but I'll have to balance the books by selling," the Spurs boss said.

We will send out a mobile alert if Tottenham do manage to sign Santa Cruz.
