Spurs are being linked with a £10m move for Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge as he considers what future he has at Stamford Bridge.
The 22-year-old is looking for assurances about his future and first team opportunities but he is unlikely to get them from the European Champions and he may consider moving away from the club.
Spurs are set to unveil former Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas as their new manager and that is likely to be followed by some fast work in the transfer market as he looks to make up for lost time, whether Sturridge would welcome working with his former Chelsea boss remains to be seen as reports claim the pair did not get on.
Sturridge made 20 Premier League starts under the Portuguese tactician before he was sacked in March, then started eight matches under Di Matteo.
Meanwhile Dutch playmaker Rafael Van der Vaart is being linked with a move to Germany with Schalke officials due in England later this week to continue talks over an £8 million return to the Bundesliga.
