Tottenham defender Jonathan Woodgate is facing a spell on the sidelines after undergoing a minor groin operation.
The central defender has been unable to play in pre-season because of the problem and Spurs have now taken the decision to have it operated on in the hope it will solve the injury once and for all.
Spurs officials have not put a time limit on Woodgate's return but the operation on Tuesday was a success and the player is now beginning his recovery with the club's physios.
