Strike ace targeted

Tottenham Hotspur, 13:49, October 20, 2009 ,

Blackburn, Tottenham and Newcastle are all said to be keen on Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo, according to reports in Portugal.

The Paraguay international has been a revelation since he joined Benfica from Newell's Old Boys in 2007 and has gone on to bag 50 goals in just 87 appearances.
It is no wonder clubs throughout Europe are starting to show an interest and Benfica could face a battle to keep hold of him when the transfer window opens again in January.
Cardozo is Benfica's second most costly player after they paid almost £10million to land him and they would want almost double that if they were to consider doing a deal.
That would almost certainly put Newcastle and Blackburn out of the running, while even Harry Redknapp may baulk at such a price.
Interested clubs will get a good opportunity to check the player out when Benfica take on Everton in the Europa League on Thursday night.
