Tottenham's hopes of landing striker Leandro Damiao from Internacional look to have been scuppered by a massive bid from the Ukraine.

The 22-year-old was said to be at the top of Harry Redknapp's shopping list and an offer of £15m was thought to be on the table but that would not be sufficient to land him now as their club president has revealed he is the subject of a massive offer from the Ukraine. AC Milan were also ready to make a move but Internacional president Porto Alegre, when asked why Damiao would not be joining the Italian giants, said: "Because I have an offer of €40m offer from a team in the Ukrainian league." Asked whether that team was Shakhtar Donetsk, he said: "I cannot say. It is a delicate moment. I can only say he will not go to Milan for this reason. "If Milan offered €40m we could talk about it, but there has been no contact. The only team that has shown real interest is from Ukraine." Redknapp is likely to turn his attention to Juventus striker Amauri who has also been linked with a move to Tottenham or Fulham striker Moussa Dembele who has also been linked.
