Dimitar Berbatov's agent has admitted Manchester United have "expressed an interest" in signing the Spurs striker this summer.
Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been linked with a £20m bid for the Bulgaria international but there has so far been no confirmation of any offer.
Berbatov is desperate for Champions League football while United want a forward to complement Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez.
And the Tottenham striker's representative Emil Danchev has hinted that there could be movement in the deal imminently.
"I can tell with certainty that Manchester United have expressed an interest in Berbatov. I cannot comment on the issue further," Danchev told Bulgaria's Darik Radio.
