Aston Villa are ready to end Paul Robinson's Tottenham misery by offering him the chance to rebuild his career in the Midlands.
Spurs boss Juande Ramos has said that Robinson can leave the club this summer after losing faith in the England international and he has spent the summer looking for a replacement despite drawing a blank with his search so far.
Middlesbrough are also interested in Robinson, who has struggled to get his place back in the international squad as well, but it is Villa who are said to be favourites to land him.
Martin O'Neill looks unlikely to pursue his interest in Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson, who spent the whole of last season on loan at Villa Park, and Robinson is now his top target.
Meanwhile, reports also claim Robinson favours working with O'Neill and a deal looks set to be pushed through over the summer.
