Guus Hiddink has reportedly told Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to sign Tottenham's Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko in the summer.
The Dutch tactician is currently Pavlyuchenko's national team coach with Russia in addition to managing team affairs at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season. And, despite confirming that he will not extend his stay with the Londoners beyond this term, Hiddink appears keen on seeing the hitman make the move to the Blues.
Hiddink has been keeping a close eye on the 27-year-old, who has found life difficult in the Premier League after scoring just four goals in 23 games for Spurs since joining in a £13.8million switch last August. And the former PSV Eindhoven, Australia and South Korea coach is confident Pavlyuchenko would be a good addition to the Blues squad.
Hiddink said: "Since he has been in England, I have seen Pavlyuchenko grow as a player and I think he is becoming even more of a professional.
"I started to respect him more and more in my period with the national team. His decision to move here to the Premier League among some of the best players in the world and fight in the toughest league was a big choice."
The chances of securing a £12million deal for Pavlyuchenko is a possibility given that Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has dropped the player to the reserves recently and it is claimed he is one player who will be sold to help fund his squad rebuilding job at White Hart Lane this summer.
