Tottenham are reported to be lining up a pre-deadline swoop for the Honduran defender Osman Chavez.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp only has one fully fit central defender at his disposal in the form of Sebastien Bassong as Ledley King cannot play two games in quick succession, while both Jonathan Woodgate and Michael Dawson are carrying knocks.
Redknapp is now ready to turn to 25-year-old Chavez, who has come highly recommended by fellow countryman Wilson Palacios. Chavez currently plays in his homeland with Platense and reports claim terms have already been agreed.
The player's agent Barry McIntosh is refusing to say whether that is the case although he does admit a deal could be in the pipeline for his client.
"There is interest in Osman, but we cannot go into any details at this stage," McIntosh told skysports.com.
However, Chavez has been more open and says he wants to join Palacios at White Hart Lane.
"Who would not like to play with Wilson and for a team like Tottenham?" he said. "It is a challenge to participate in a league as important as the English one."
