Defender set for exit

Spurs left-back Gareth Bale is reportedly on the verge of securing a loan switch to Newcastle United.

The Welsh youngster is yet to feature in a winning Spurs side and it is thought boss Harry Redknapp would be willing to let the defender leave on loan.
Bale is currently injured but the form of Benoit Assou-Ekotto could reduce his chances of securing first-team football at White Hart Lane when he returns to fitness and the 20-year-old may consider a loan switch to the Championship.
