Defoe linked with La Liga

Barcelona are being linked with a shock swoop for Jermain Defoe following the striker's electric start to the season.

Defoe has been a revelation this season and currently tops the Premier League goalscoring charts with 11 strikes and his form has not gone unnoticed at the Nou Camp.
Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola is said to be keeping tabs on the striker with a view to launching a January bid but a move is unlikely to happen at this stage of the season.
Spurs will be unwilling to do business as they chase a Champions League place while Defoe himself would rather avoid any disruption as he looks to cement his place in England's World Cup squad.
However if he continues to shine then Spurs could face a battle to keep hold in the summer.
