Spurs ace to seal Cats switch

Tottenham, 18:04, August 4, 2009

Tottenham striker Darren Bent is set to finally sign for Sunderland on Wednesday after passing a medical at the Stadium of Light.

The 25-year-old is set to become Sunderland's record signing when he puts pen-to-paper on a £12million transfer from Spurs after a delay over the paperwork meant the move did not go through on Tuesday as planned. It means Bent will not be able to make his debut in the friendly at Peterborough United at London Road on Tuesday evening.
However Sunderland assistant manager Eric Black said: "His record in the Premier League is outstanding - I think he's scored about 50 goals in 100-odd appearances, a phenomenal return. There's a plethora of different things we think he'll bring."
