Barnes shown the door

Tranmere Rovers, 12:15, October 9, 2009 ,

Tranmere have blamed poor results after sacking manager John Barnes and assistant boss Jason McAteer on Friday.

Rovers have started the campaign in disastrous fashion under the former Liverpool pair having won just twice in League One all season.
The final straw came when the Prenton Park outfit were dumped out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday night at League Two Bury.
Tranmere chairman Peter Johnson told the club's website: "Unfortunately results have not gone our way this season and we are at the wrong end of the table.
"We must now focus on finding the best possible candidate."
Physio Les Parry has been placed in temporary charge and will be assisted by reserve boss Shaun Garnett.
