Walsall will again assess Richard Taundry ahead of the visit of in-form Colchester.

The right-back pencilled himself in to return from a hamstring injury in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Stevenage but failed to make it and will now look to prove his fitness in time to face the U's. It also remains to be seen whether midfielder Adam Chambers returns from his heel infection but striker Will Grigg (hamstring) remains sidelined. Manager Dean Smith has no fresh injury or suspension concerns to contend with as the Saddlers aim to make the most of their game in hand over their relegation rivals. Walsall, one point adrift of safety, have lost just one of their last nine and come up against a play-off-chasing Colchester side unbeaten in the same period albeit having drawn seven of those.
