Smith hails Saddlers success
Dean Smith saluted his Walsall side as they rounded off the campaign with an impressive 1-0 win at high-flying MK Dons.
Will Grigg's first goal since October proved decisive for the battling Saddlers, who had already ensured survival last week, and denied the Dons a fourth-placed finish in League One.
Boss Smith said: "We finished the season really well, I thought we were outstanding in all aspects of it. The attitude shown, considering we were already safe, was fantastic.
"The only disappointment is that it was only one goal, it could have been three or four. We've had some great opportunities but it's a good win against a good team.
"Adam Chambers has come in and filled the void and I thought he was outstanding along with Manny Smith and Sam Mantom. I know about my players, I've had them long enough and I know everything about them and that performance and that win didn't surprise me.
"It's always nice finishing a place higher than we did last year and getting 50 points."
