Ex-Hornet targets youngster

Colchester manager Aidy Boothroyd hopes John-Joe O'Toole will stay at the club permanently rather than return to Watford.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international is currently on loan at the Weston Homes Community Stadium and is scheduled to return to Vicarage Road at the end of the year.
However, after impressing in his 11 games so far Boothroyd says he wants to either extend O'Toole's loan or sign him permanently.
"They've both made a difference to the team - they have made it better and stronger. They have both come from the Championship and that's where they want to go back to - and beyond," said Boothroyd when asked about O'Toole and fellow loan star Kayode Odejayi.
"As we get closer to that deadline, I'll be looking to do something with the two clubs to either extend their loans or to sign them permanently.
"I will be working very hard to keep them here because I like them both as characters, which is important and I also like them as players."
