Hornets wait on Eustace

Watford manager Gianfranco Zola will be hoping captain John Eustace recovers from his back injury in time to face Bradford in the Capital One Cup.

The 32-year-old sustained the problem in the opening-day victory at Crystal Palace and failed to recover for Saturday's clash with Birmingham. Zola will be hoping a couple of extra days to prepare will allow Eustace to be eased back into first-team action against the Bantams. The Hornets boss is likely to name an unchanged squad should Eustace not make it, but has a number of options should he choose to rest his first-choice players. Summer signings Marco Cassetti, Fitz Hall and Alex Geijo are still waiting to make their Watford debuts, while Carl Dickinson and Joe Garner both started in the first-round win against Wycombe and will hope to keep their starting places in Zola's Cup squad.
