Frank Lampard Snr says he will exhaust his Premier League contacts to get the right players in for Watford during January.
Lampard is consulting new Hornets boss Brendan Rodgers on players and tactics, and has promised to give some of his friends and ex-players a call in a bid to improve the squad at Vicarage Road.
Both men were pleased with the side's performance in the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carling Cup quarter final, but Lampard says the hard work starts now.
He said: "Brendan and I have been working hard with the players on the training ground and we have already noticed a difference in such a short space of time.
"We want to bring some players in, we have been talking to some people already.
"We have some good contacts with Premier League managers and we are looking to bring in some loan players in January.
"Some players will have to go as well, but I think we need to freshen things up a bit."
