Loach urged to stay put

Watford, 09:43, January 25, 2010 ,

Watford boss Malky Mackay is tipping his goalkeeper Scott Loach for the very top after another impressive performance at the weekend.

Mackay was extremely frustrated with the manner of his side's 3-2 defeat at Blackpool but he excluded Loach from any blame following a string of outstanding saves.
The Hornets had been leading 2-1 thanks to goals from Henri Lansbury and Tom Cleverley but were undone by two late strikes by Keith Southern and Brett Ormerod.
He said: "Our keeper is an England player and did what he's been doing all season.
"That's what I expect from him now. He's got to make saves, but at the same time, I'd rather he hadn't had to make so many.
"I expect people to be watching Scott as he's the England U21 goalkeeper, but I'll reiterate that I don't need to sell him right now unless something ridiculous comes in.
"He needs to play football and if he goes to a Premiership side now, he won't play football.
"Scott needs to advance in his career and he needs to keep doing what he's doing here."
However, it would seem the Scot is planning for a possible approach before the transfer deadline with Spurs one club rumoured to be eyeing his number one.
Mackay has reportedly tabled an offer for Egyptian keeper Essam Al Hadary which is currently being considered.
It's understood the Hornets are looking to take him on loan until the end of the season from his club Ismaily.
The 37-year-old is widely regarded as Egypt's best goalkeeper of all-time.
