West Brom have reportedly rejected an undisclosed bid from Qatari outfit Al-Gharrafa for star striker Peter Odemwingie.

The news of the Doha-based side's interest in the Nigeria international comes on the back of speculation of a bust-up between the player and new Baggies boss Steve Clarke, which was immediately rubbished earlier this week. However, after a firm offer came in from Al-Gharrafa ahead of West Brom's pre-season tour to Scandinavia, it was rebuffed by the club and Odemwingie will still travel with the 25-man squad. Clarke is clearly determined to hold on to 31-year-old Odemwingie, who has scored 25 times in 60 games and is contracted to the Hawthorns until summer 2014, as he sees him as a big part of his plans at the club. He recently said: "There's no reason to doubt that he's not a top, top player and I'm really looking forward to working with him. His goal record here is really good. He's the man you look to for the goals."
