Baggies new boy confident of success

Markus Rosenberg has set his sights on emulating the success he has enjoyed elsewhere in Europe with new club with West Brom.

Swedish international Rosenberg has signed a three-year contract with the Baggies and will provide competition for Peter Odemwingie, Shane Long and Marc-Antoine Fortune. The former Malmo, Ajax and Racing Santander player was a free agent after his contract with Werder Bremen ran out at the end of last season. Baggies manager Steve Clarke said: "Markus is an experienced striker who has scored goals in three of Europe's top leagues, as well as in the top European competitions. Now he is determined to prove himself in the Barclays Premier League. "Markus will really increase competition for places in the forward areas and hopefully spur on the strikers we already have here. He had several other offers this summer but he made it clear that joining West Bromwich Albion was his first choice and we're really pleased we've been able to conclude a deal." Rosenberg, 29, has scored 83 goals in 186 league games during his career, in addition to six goals in 30 appearances for Sweden for whom he was part of the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2008 squads.
