Beattie boosted by Palace loan stint

West Bromwich Albion, 10:58, December 29, 2008 ,

Striker Craig Beattie claims his loan spell at Crystal Palace earlier in the season has helped boost his confidence for West Brom.

The big frontman enjoyed a successful stint with Neil Warnock's side in the Championship and has now returned to the Hawthorns full of confidence. That showed on Sunday as his injury-time goal sealed a 2-0 win against ten-man Tottenham which has dragged Tony Mowbray's side to within two points of safety.
Beattie, who came off the bench in the second half of the match, told the West Brom official website: "We dug in and it was a massive three points for us. I was looking at the clock with half-an-hour to go and thinking 'come on gaffer'.
"He gave me the shout and said 'go on and get us a goal'. Thankfully, I managed to do that. I'm looking forward to getting more games at this level and hopefully scoring more goals.
"I had to come back from Palace because of an unfortunate injury to Ishmael (Miller). I'd like to wish him all the best - but it's an opportunity for me now.
"I just want to push on. I thoroughly enjoyed my spell at Palace. I got games and goals. Now I feel every time I go on the pitch I'm going to score. I probably shouldn't have made the run for the goal.
"The gaffer was shouting 'where are you going?!'
"But I just thought I'd go and try and finish the game off. Thankfully I did."
