Boss looks for Beattie deal

West Bromwich Albion, 16:36, November 28, 2008

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock is hoping to sign West Brom's Craig Beattie on a permanent basis in the new year.

The Scottish international has hit four goals in 12 appearances for the Eagles and has already had his current deal extend from one month to three.

Now Warnock would like to make the move a permanent one if he can generate enough money to land him and to do that he will have to sell some fringe players to raise the cash.

He told the Advertiser: "Craig has been superb since coming here and he is a great lad, obviously we would love to bring him here permanently.

"I don't really want to bring in too many players in January - but if I can bring in Beattie I'll be happy.

"A lot depends on who goes out, we have to get players out before we can bring players in."
