Peter Odemwingie and Gabriel Tamas have been ruled out of West Brom's final game of the season against Newcastle.
Boss Roy Hodgson explained that the Nigerian striker is being given an early rest so the club have released him to return to Moscow and visit his mother. "Peter won't play in this game for a variety of reasons," he said. "He's got an ankle problem we're been nursing him through, equally he's played a year and a half's football without a break." Tamas has picked up a knock and has also been released early by the club to give him a break before a busy summer of international football for Romania. West Brom have put teenagers James Hurst and George Thorne on standby for possible first-team duty at St James' Park.
