Jonathan Greening says the current Baggies team are capable of a second 'Great Escape' and are better than Bryan Robson's side.
With Christmas fast approaching West Brom have three matches left to try and lift themselves from the foot of the Premiership but, if they fail, skipper Greening still believes they are good enough to escape the drop.
Only one side has ever been bottom at Christmas and survived and that was Bryan Robson's West Brom team.
But Greening believes the current team is stronger, plays better football than Robbo's famous side and that they too can survive.
He told the expressandstar: "We were the first team at the bottom at Christmas to stay up at the end. We know it can be done. We've got the players to do that and we're playing better football this time than we did then.
"Why can't we do it? We need a little bit of luck, a few things to go our way and hopefully that can start soon."
