Hammers defender eyed

West Bromwich Albion, 16:11, November 16, 2008

West Brom are reported to be keeping tabs on West Ham United defender James Collins and hope to resurrect a deal.

The Baggies are desperate to sign a new central defender and boss Tony Mowbray is ready to go back in for the player after missing out in the summer.

Collins was struggling with a knee injury at the time and the move fell through but Mowbray has maintained his interest and will make a fresh move now that he is back to full fitness.

Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola may have to let one or two players go in January and will be willing to let Collins move to the Hawthorns if Albion make a good offer.
