Long misses out

West Brom's Shane Long has missed out on selection for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers after Robbie Keane pulls out with an injury.

The former Reading man was expected to get the call up to the international squad ahead of tomorrow nights game against Germany, but Giovanni Trapattoni has opted to use the Stoke City forward Jonathan Walters instead. Long has made 29 appearances for the national side scoring eight times in the process but he will have to wait a little longer to add to that. The 25-year-old has started the season well for the Baggies getting himself on the score sheet twice and helping them to sixth in the table under new manager Steve Clarke.
