Scharner set for scan

Albion midfielder Paul Scharner is to have a scan on the wrist injury he suffered during Sunday's shock win over Liverpool at Anfield.

Scharner has been unable to train so far this week and could be a doubt for the home derby with Aston Villa this weekend. Baggies assistant boss Keith Downing said: "Paul didn't train on Tuesday and he'll have a scan on the wrist to assess the extent of the damage." Albion striker Marc-Antoine Fortune may return to training later this week after being ruled out of the Anfield triumph with a hamstring problem. Downing said: "Marco could be considered by the end of the week depending on how his rehab goes during the next day or two. It would be an advantage to have him back."
