Striker blow for Eagles

West Bromwich Albion, 13:02, January 6, 2009

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock looks likely to fail in any effort to bring Craig Beattie back to the club on loan.

The Scotland striker was enjoying a productive spell at Selhurst Park when he was ordered back to West Brom because of the injury to their striker Ishmael Miller and now Baggies boss Tony Mowbray has said he wants to keep him and not let him go out again on loan.

"Beats scored against Tottenham and is working hard," said Mowbray.

"He will have to see how the selection of the team goes and as we move on we will decide who makes the team, who makes the bench and who is left out altogether.

"There is no point talking about his future other than to say he is our player, he has proved that he can score in the Premier League and hopefully there are more goals there for him."
