West Brom boss Tony Mowbray has denied that the Baggies have secured a deal for Lens striker Aruna Dindane in January.
The 27-year-old was reported over the weekend to have secured a loan move to the Hawthorns with a view to a permanent £5m deal at some point in the future but Mowbray denies the deal has been done.
"I'm not sure where this came from," Mowbray told the Birmingham Mail, "I've heard about four or five other names we're supposed to be linked with.
"Aruna Dindane, like Filipe (Teixeira), has been out for eight months with a cruciate ligament and hasn't kicked a ball.
"Is it right that we would take him on loan - well let's see what he does over the next few months.
"We talk about lots of players and his name would have been mentioned but, categorically, there has been no contact between the football clubs.
"He's just a footballer who was mentioned with about 20 other footballers. He's a name among many players yet he hasn't kicked a ball for a while and I have no idea where he is in his recovery. He's a long shot - wild card.
"We are at a stage where we're trying to identify players. No deals have been done for any player."
