West Brom back on track

West Bromwich Albion, 11:56, January 25, 2010 ,

West Brom winger Jerome Thomas insists automatic promotion is still the club's aim despite an impressive Cup performance on Saturday.

The Baggies were dominant in their 4-2 FA Cup fourth round victory against Newcastle on Saturday and were equally as impressive in the 2-2 draw with the Magpies on Monday. Thomas is now hoping his side can build on their recent performances and force their way back into the automatic promotion slots in the Championship.
Thomas told the club website: "Monday's performance kick-started us, it boosted a lot of confidence. They are the biggest games of season and we've done well against Newcastle. We now need to draw confidence from the last two games."
Thomas also praised his manager; Roberto Di Matteo, who altered his team's tactics after a recent run of poor form and has seen them go from strength to strength since the changes.
"The gaffer had to re-evaluate the formation, the clientele and you have to give him praise for that. He's not afraid to change things and it worked."
