Hammers move for Yak

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is planning to take advantage of a clause in Yakubu's contract and snatch him away from Blackburn for £1m.

Relegated Rovers do not want to lose their top scorer but he apparently has a clause in his current contract which allows him to leave Ewood Park if someone comes up with £1m for his services and Allardyce is ready to do just that. Blackburn would be reluctant to allow Yakubu to leave, especially if he were to rejoin Allardyce. But they may not be able to stop it and it would be a boost for the Hammers boss who is looking to build a squad big enough for the Premier League. Big Sam has also agreed a deal for Bolton's Finnish goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen who is set to team up with his old boss on a free transfer.
