No player departures - Zola

West Ham United, 11:55, December 15, 2008 ,

Gianfranco Zola has again moved to slam reports that West Ham need to sell their best players to ease the club's financial troubles.

The Hammers boss spoke out against Sunday newspaper speculation that top players such as Craig Bellamy, who was on target in the 1-1 draw at Chelsea, will be offloaded in the January transfer window to help ease the mounting debts at Upton Park.
Zola was adamant after the Stamford Bridge clash that his board have assured him that any player sales will be the ones he no longer wants in his squad.
"The club is not in financial crisis," Zola told Sky Sports. "We are okay and they assured me that we are not going to be selling our best players.
"We have a big squad. We might sell some players who are not playing but we are not going to be selling our best players."
The Italian tactician even hinted that cash could be made available to strengthen the Hammers squad as opposed to weakening the team.
He added: "If we have the possibility to improve the squad we will try to improve it. We will see but the most important thing is that the club are not going to sell our best players."
