Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh has again voiced his desire to move to the Premier League, with the Hammers said to be keen.
The Moroccan striker has reportedly been a long-term target for Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola and Chamakh has stated his desire to make the switch across the Channel.
The 25-year-old is out of contract in the summer and could make the switch to Upton Park for free, although the striker himself has suggested he may find a new club in January so his current employers can gain a financial advantage.
"My future? I don't know. It is up to me," Chamakh told French publication L'Equipe. "At the club, the door is open. When I make my decision, I will reply yes or no. I am thinking about it at present.
"I just want to achieve a great season with Bordeaux, maybe (then) to sign (for a club) in the Premier League.
"However it would be fine (moving in January for a fee) so everyone could take advantage of the transfer."
Arsenal were thought to be in the driving seat for the Moroccan's signature, although Bordeaux's hierarchy have voiced their anger at the way Gunners boss Arsene Wenger handled the speculation linking Chamakh with the Emirates and relations may have soured to the point where a transfer is no longer possible.
This will make no difference if Chamakh opts to leave in the summer, but it is unlikely Bordeaux will negotiate with Arsenal in January.
The likes of Sunderland, Bolton and Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in the unsettled hitman.
